la Maison Du Soleil

la Maison Du Soleil - listed at $85,000,000

Max Azria, founder of the BCBG Max Azria Group, and his wife have put a lot of time and money into making their massive, 30,000-square-foot Holmby Hills manse over-the-top luxurious. Just stepping into the two-story entryway and seeing that floor-to-ceiling "waterfall chandelier" with its "150,000 hand-placed crystals," its clear that they have succeeded. The Wall Street Journal notes that the amenities don't stop at giant, indoor glass cascades.
Inside the 17-bedroom, 33-bathroom mansion, there's a 6,000-square-foot movie theater, plus a candy and popcorn bar. Azria's office has gold leaf on its domed ceiling; another ceiling has what appears to be a ceiling-mounted metallic vine sculpture. (They're really activating that ceiling space.) The kitchen has a walk-in fridge, and there are two greenhouses (one is just for organic produce, of course), according to the listing. The three-acre property also holds five gardens ("French, Japanese, English, Moroccan and herb"), a fire pit, a "zero-edged pool," and an on-site Moroccan bath house with a steam shower and sauna, maybe to sweat out all that salt and sugar from the candy and popcorn bar.
In 2005, Mr. and Mrs. Azria purchased their 30,000-square-foot Holmby Hills home—originally designed in the Thirties by Paul R. Williams—then spent $30 million and probably quite a bit of time on "gut-renovating" the place. It's now asking $85 million.
